About the Book:
In Hollywood during the
Roaring Twenties, Celeste DuFrane has it all. Her father's work with
color movie film opens doors that lead to the stardom she's always
aspired to. But after losing her mother, she discovers that half the
estate has been left to a woman accused of killing Celeste's baby sister
before Celeste was even born.Dana Lundgren arrives on the steps of the
DuFrane mansion having spent most of her life imprisoned for a crime
that never happened. After accusing her of murder so many years ago, why
did Marguerite DuFrane leave her a sizeable inheritance? As Celeste and
Dana learn each other's stories, they come up with more questions than
answers. Then a surprising discovery begins to fill in the missing
pieces: Marguerite DuFrane's written confession, penned shortly before
her death. Uncovering the treachery and deceit that changed the course
of countless lives--most of all, their own--the two women find more than
they ever dreamed of.

About the Author:
As far as I know, I have always been a writer. Before I could put words
to page, I would dictate stories to my mother. I have always lulled
myself to sleep by crafting stories--a new chapter each night. When God
called me to write, I was thrilled to answer His prompting. And so it
was, after a long conversation with my husband, I left a 20-year
teaching career to pursue a new direction. It called for a HUGE step of
faith, but God has kept me and our family safe.

I count every
single one of my readers as one of God's blessings in my life, and I
like to think of my stories as being the first step in a conversation.
Please visit my website, www.allisonpittman.com and send me an email. It
is one of my greatest joys to hear from you!

My Review:
Celeste DuFrane, a talented movie star, feels like she can have it all. To be the lead in a world renowned up coming movie--she is overjoyed at the thought. But after her mother dies she is expected to share her home with a baby-killer. She can't understand why her mother would of done such a thing, something like this in her will it was in her will that this be done. But she keeps asking herself why.

Dana Lundgren, accused of killing an infant, spent most of her life behind bars. After her release she is so new to some many things in society--it is often terrifying to her. Then of all things she finds out that she was named in someones will, but why? Together these two women find the truth and thruth is not at all, what you would expect.
three-book story arc about the American Revolution, "The Redcoats Are
Coming" follows Patrick and Beth as they assist the revolutionaries by
waking up the sleeping citizens of 1775 Concord before the Redcoats
come. In this adventure, the cousins meet Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and
John Hancock. They help smuggle musket balls, sound the alarm that the
Redcoats are coming, and deliver a secret message to Paul Revere. Along
the way they learn that most of the revolutionaries leaned on God's
direction and even pastors helped in the cause.Christian parents and
teachers will appreciate the historical facts as well as the biblical
worldview training their kids and students will absorb. The kids will
appreciate the excitement and tension of an America at war with England,
and in some ways, with itself. A curriculum for Christian schools and
homeschool families will be available
My Review:
The Redcoats are coming! The Redcoats are coming! His voice and those individuals that supported his cause rang out in the night. The Patriots were a group of strong, courageous individuals that supported their right to something bigger and were willing to fight for it, no matter the cost.
We have all heard the story of Paul Revere and his cause. He was a very courageous man. He and many others secretly planned to fight because what choice did they have, really? Adventures in Odyssey has created a very well adapted series entitled The Imagination Station. This series of Books goes along the same lines an the Magic Tree House series only if you know anything about AIO you know it's christian based.
Your children will get a good dose of history with God being in the center of it all. The Redcoats are coming tells about Paul Revere and his famous Midnight ride. Causing Beth and Patrick to go back in time and meet many famous people that they have only read about. Paul Revere and John Hanncock to name a few.
Beth and Patrick are actually seated there by Mr. Whit to deliver a letter to the famous Paul Revere, but they get sidetracked.
At the end of each book you are given a hint of what's to come in the next book. The ending of this book finds us in a boat , I wonder where we will go in our nest adventure.

When Rosie, Carrie, and Grandma are asked to help out at Last Chance
Corral, a nursemare foal rescue, Rosie is shocked when she experiences
firsthand how cruel some people can be to animals. During the week at
Last Chance, the girls learn that the God who knows when a sparrow falls
to the ground works through the kindness of others to provide for the
animals He created. For the foals, and the girls, Last Chance Corral is a
life-changing experience.
Tender Mercies is the fourth book in the Sonrise Stable
series, heartwarming stories of an extended homeschooling family as they
live, learn, and love together. Mixing adventure, life lessons, and
realistic horse experiences, the series is a must for readers who enjoy
family values, Christian faith, and, of course, horses!
My Review:

Tender Mercies starts out with the wonderful view from a colt. He has eyes for only his mother and a nice boy that takes care of him. The boy brought the colt and his mother out daily to get exercise and brought them back in at night to keep them safe. But one night the boy is awakened by the sounds of whining horses. He runs to the stall where the colt he named Sparky stood all alone, his mother taken from him. What lays ahead for this poor colt?

Rosie and Carrie watched as Grandma paced back and forth talking on the phone. They begged her steadily to tell them whats going on and when she finally does they barely can contain their excitement. They head out the next day to the Last Chance Corral. A place where horses and foals a like are taken good care of and raised properly. And now Rosie, Carrie, and Grandma will be helping there. The lady that owns the place is getting six new foals, ones of which Rosie and Carrie wants to take home. But they cant, they are here to help her with the new foals she is receiving. But this job isn't all it cracked up to be. Will they make it through this long week or just give up?
My love of horses began when a teenage neighbor offered me my first
ride, on the back of her horse. From my 8-year-old perspective, it
seemed like the biggest horse in the world. From that moment on, I was
addicted. Horses were to become a very important part of my life,
although I never could have imagined, at the time, how much God would
teach me about Himself and my relationship to Him through these
wonderful animals. The Sonrise Stable series combines my love of God and horses in
stories that I hope will help children learn more about both. I have a
vision for ten initial books in the series, taking the main characters
through one year. Beyond that I'll see where God leads me. I have been blessed with three daughters and homeschooled each of
them through high school. I enjoy trail riding my Rocky Mountain mare,
Nikki, hiking, photography, and playing guitar. I work from home as
a and computer programmer and enjoy the variety and flexibility that
allows.
journalist, suffered a sudden injury that made headlines around the
world. She had been on a short flight to look at Christmas lights and,
upon exiting the small plane, was hit by the still-moving propeller
blade. A frantic 911 call, several major surgeries, and thousands of
prayers later: Lauren lived. But she lost her left hand and left eye.
And she had to face some incredibly difficult questions: What kind of future will I have? Where is God in all this pain? Will anyone ever be able to love me now? In Still LoLo,
Lauren speaks out for the first time since her accident. She and her
family reveal what really happened that night, what Lauren’s life is
like today, what got them through their journey toward healing, and how
they conquered all odds to persevere as a family. It’s a compelling and
fiercely beautiful story of faith, determination, and staying true to
who you are—no matter what.
About The Book:
Lilly Corbett Still has grown to love her life as the small-town doctor
of Skip Rock, a tiny coal community in the Kentucky mountains. Though
her husband, Tern, is away for a few months at a mining job, Lilly has
her hands full with her patients and her younger sister visiting for the
summer. Lilly turns to her good friend and neighbor, Armina, to
help keep things in order—until a mysterious chain of events leaves
Armina bedridden and an abandoned baby on her doorstep. Lilly works to
uncover the truth, unaware of what a mess she’s found herself in until a
break-in at her clinic puts her on high alert. As she struggles between
what is right and what is safe, Lilly must discover the strength of her
resilient country neighbors, her God, and herself.
As she walked to the best picking spot in town she couldn't help but take off her shoes and feel the dirt between her feet. Once she was at the blackberry bush, she just went to picking. She was suddenly distracted as a man and his wife were fighting along the side of the creek. The man looked as if he was bulling the woman as he pushed her in the creek. As the couple went under water, Armina's first thought was running but they came up to soon. The man finished the woman off with a rock and then noticed Armina sanding there.
Armina wakes up lying on the hard ground beside the berry bush. As she sits up she notices a trail of blood, looking as if something was dragged across the ground. She follows the trial to a small house, that has a baby crying inside. She took cover behind a tree, as she notices that man coming from the house with a pick ax and a shovel. She waits until she hears the sound of the shovel scrapping rock before she dashes in the house scoops up the baby and some diapers, and makes a run for her house.
Lilly was busy making lunch when she sent her sister Macy to check on Armina at Armina's house. When Macy starts yelling for her, she took off running. Macy tells Lilly of how she found Armina in the front yard passed out. Once they get her inside and Armina wakes up they try to figure out what happened. Armina not remembering starts acting strange. Lilly ends up finding the baby on Armina's bed and asks Armina what happened and why the baby was there. Will Lilly be able to figure out whats wrong with Armina? Will she find out what happened to the baby's mom and bring her death to justice? Or she end up like that woman at the creek?
Do you have the "right" qualifications to serve as a missionary? How do you know you're hearing "the call," anyway? In this collection of missionary biographies and modern-day parables, you'll learn that your
skills, experience, and past don't really matter - only your obedience to a God who knows exactly how, when, and where He can use you to pour out His love to hungry souls. A young marriage destroyed by military service. A man given over to drugs and alcohol, taunted by the Enemy and rescued by a forgotten Savior. Restored to life and love, then called to serve. "Portrait of a Walk in Faith." A childhood lost to violence, innocence ripped away. Transformed from cutting her body to sharing God's inestimable love with fatherless children around the world. "Portrait of a Broken Heart." Two financially disastrous injuries. On the verge of losing their home. Surely God was calling the wrong family at the wrong time to help build an orphanage. "Portrait of a Builder." "The path to missions isn't what you imagine." "The stories that Jackie has written and collected will make you smile, cause you to reflect, and hopefully inspire you to find your place in God's story. Through them, Jackie encourages us to play an active role in the divine narrative of bringing glory to God among the nations. Her modern-day parables illustrate how our own lives can be interwoven with the grander story of God's love and pursuit of His creation.""-Omar Garcia, Missions Pastor at Kingsland Baptist Church, Katy, TX
I really enjoyed the Parable of the Wedding Ring. This parable tells of the power of prayer. Of which all Christians should know of. The author is on a plane headed to Miami when her seating companion started to look for something. So asked him what was wrong and if she could help. He told her, he lost his wedding band, and continued frantically searching. The asked the flight attendant to help as she came to tell they needed to be seated. She told them she would announce to later on the loud speaker, but after an hour she soon forgot. As the hour went by the author sat there praying for the man, praying he would find the ring. The author seating companion soon started looking again, this time their seating companion beside the window asks them whats going on. As they tell her, she recalls a woman she bumped into earlier had found a ring on their plane. The man begins begging her to go find the woman and ask her for the ring. As the woman gets up, the author continues praying. The woman arrives with the ring and presents it to the man. The author goes and tells you of how this goes with the bible verse: Mark 9:23-24.
she deals with all her responsibilities. And then comes the call that
changes everything—the one from Alex’s Italian mistress. Stunned
and heartsick, Lena flies to Florence to confront Alex. The city is
every bit as beautiful as she imagined, from its glittering fountains
and cafes to the golden sunsets over rolling hills. But the further she
goes to salvage her marriage, the less Lena recognizes herself—or the
husband she’s trying to win back. Instead, she’s catching glimpses of
the person she once hoped to be and the life and family she truly wants.
Most of all, she’s wondering if the real journey is only just
beginning…
About The Book:
Jason woke up in the morning with excitement. Today was his first day in
kindergarten. He waited a long time for this day and it finally
arrived. He took off his pajamas and started to dress: he put on his
shirt, put on his pants, put on the right shoe and... Wait a minute!
Where did the other shoe go? He looked for the shoe all over the
room: under the bed, behind the curtain, on the bookshelf and even
inside the cat's basket ... but he couldn't find it anywhere. As he didn't want to be late to kindergarten, he decided to go look for it outside ... Who knows where this shoe could be...
curiosity and imagination in children through reading. In fact, evidence
suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day are more likely
to do well at school, develop a broader vocabulary and increase general
knowledge than those who don't. I have a lot of fun creating
stories that entertain my young readers and hopefully teach them
important everyday lessons in a fun and easy to understand manner.
About The Book:

This is Book 3 in a Series of 4.
After sitting through a 4-H demonstration on the evolution of the
horse, Rosie and Carrie are determined to present the arguments for
creation at the club’s next meeting. The demonstration proves harder to
put together than they imagined as everyone offers the girls their
opinions. The lessons Rosie learns about creation extend into her life
in surprising ways as she faces her old adversary, Billy King, who
cheated her out of her first trophy with her pony, Scamper.
My Review:
Believing in God, they were horrified to hear of the supposed evolution of horses. Rosie and Carrie try to come up with a way to prove that God created all living things, even horses. But as they go along it proves to be harder then they thought, after hearing the opinions of others. With the help of Grandma, recovering from a broken leg, and their Mom, the girls prepare their own report on the creation of the horse. Will they be able to prove evolution wrong and still get the respect they deserve? Or will everything fall apart?

The author has done a wonderful job making these books. Being the third in the series, they just keep getting better and better. I love how the characters are home-schooled because not many books, christian or otherwise, the children are home-schooled. Being a homeschool student myself, its great to find a series that has children that are home-schooled. I can't wait for the next book.
One Day, Hallie's mom decides to take Hallie along with her to the yoga studio. Hallie is suppose to spend time with Robin, a baby-sitter at the studio.
After Hallie arrives in the play area, she gets upset because she wants to do yoga, too. So Robin decides to show Hallie a few poses without Hallie really knowing what she is doing.
When the visit is over Hallie explains to her mom that she wants to do yoga, too. And that's when Robin informs her, she was doing yoga, too. And little Hallie leaves the studio a very happy girl.

I really enjoyed the adorable pictures, each one helped tell what the book was about. And as a child reads this book they can do poses right along with Hallie. Great, for anyone who does yoga.

Catch The Wind is full of adventure from the very beginning. River was headed to his favorite fishing hole when he spotted a boy fighting with the fish on the end of his line. So River rushes over to the boy and starts to help pull the fish up and out of the water. The fish just happens to be the biggest catfish ever seen and the boy turns out to be his new neighbor, William. They do almost everything together, even getting in to trouble. River's grandpa comes to visit and starts telling the boys about a giant gator. This, peaking the boys interests starts them planning to build a home-made raft to take down the Mississippi River.

I have three brothers so I feel like I know what adventure is all about. This story reminds me a lot of my brothers and all the wild crazy things they get into. The author has done an outstanding job of making me feel like I was a part of the story.
I love to read anything about the history of Egypt, so I was really excited to hear I was receiving this book. This book follows Dr. Cliff Post and Dr. Khalid Saad on their journey to discovering the hidden chamber in the right paw of the Great Sphinx. Having to leave the woman he is madly in love with behind, Dr. Cliff travels to Egypt and to help get the chamber open. But as they are doing so, Dr. Hosnee Sadat decides it is best to keep other people away from it. After Dr. Cliff and Dr. Khalid get it open, they discover far more than they expected.
I love the adventure of this book. I felt like I was with them every step of the way. When they finally got the chamber open, there was a great spin to what they found.

So this year is my oldest sons first year in school and like most parents I'm having the jitters and pre-anxiety attacks. My baby is growing up and I want it to slow down instead of speeding up! There is some fun to getting them ready at-least it is fun to me. Shopping for school supplies has always been a favorite thing for me and the best part of School shopping was getting new shoes! The shoes always completed the process and to me was a major part of it all.

Corporate Overview

A billion-dollar global leader in the lifestyle footwear industry and a high-performance footwear brand, SKECHERS USA, Inc. designs, develops and markets more than 3,000 styles for men, women and children. SKECHERS' success stems from its employees, high-quality, varied product offering, diversified domestic and international distribution channels, and targeted multi-channel marketing.

My boys are just like any other boys their age, Heroes and anything that flashes and makes REALLY loud noises intrigues them. Boys' Hot Lights: Ibex - Humvee Light-Up Shoes.
These are the shoes that my oldest son will be wearing to his first school year. My favorite thing about them is the Velcro strap. He hasn't really grasped the concept of tying his shoes just yet and this will also help with preventing the many trips that shoestrings can cause. By the way let's not forget that these bad boys light up! They are definitely made for boys did you see those grips?
Boys' Hot Lights: Damager - Police II
Whoa there officer, I wasn't speeding! My little guy really loves these he is constantly walking through the house stomping his feet just so the lights will go off. There are quite a few neat things to these as well! For example the on and off switch (How amazing is that?!) yup! it's located on the strap. The grips are also great on these as well plus the lights are totally awesome! I mean if I could get these in my size i'd probably wear them. Who doesn't want there shoes to look like a patrol car?!
There are tons and tons of other great shoes to choose from at Skechers.com but for now i'll stick with just these two. They are all really great and definitely worth the money!
Hey guess what! Skechers is such an amazing company they have offered one our readers a chance to win a child sized pair of shoes!! Just in time for Back To School!

A Word From Me:
Wow!!! This sounds great!!! I seen this and wised I had a pair. I know if my brothers were to see this they would want these shoes, too.
"If You Were Me and Lived in...France-A Child's Introduction to Culture

Carole P. Roman has done it again with If You Were Me And Lived In...France, which is about France and its history. This book tells all about France, from the fun things to do there, to the best foods to eat. I loved how perfectly the Illustrations corresponded with the story. Each and every picture was bright and colorful as the last. On almost every page was a new way for us to pronounce words, as simple as mommy, in French. One thing that I really enjoyed learning about in this book was a very special day in France. French National Day, which just happens to be on July the 14th, which is celebrated with parades and fireworks, commemorating the beginning of the French Revolution. This is the second book in the series A Child's Introduction to Cultures Around the World.
Captain No Beard is a spirited tale of imagination. Alexander and his cousin Hallie are really sweet, delightful children that have a very vivid imagination. In the beginning of the book you can't even tell that this is a story based on a little boys imagination. The Author has done an excellent job of tricking us and getting us to believe in what the main characters are doing and seeing.
Captain No Beard is a fascinating tale were a little boy, Alexander and his first mate, Hallie, have a wild pirate adventure all in the comforts of Alexander's bedroom. Complete with a climbing mast monkey and a loud mouth lion.
This is a very colorful active book full of a child's thoughts and playfulness.
There is never a dull moment aboard the ship the Flying Dragon. Come along and join Alexander the captain and first mate Hallie on another fly by the seat of your pants adventure. Where the entire crew gets marooned on a deserted island.
It doesn't take the crew long to find something to do to keep them busy. But its not long before the fun times are interrupted by Captain No Beard and the fact he starts bossing everyone around. Captain No Beard get very impatient with his crew and decides he doesn't need one after all. But something happens that changes his thoughts on the matter real quick.
The Captain No Beard series is a series of books to teach children valuable life lessons. And the author throws in an extra big helping of adventure and action.
I love the moral of the story because getting bossed around is never going to be fun. This book will help people from young to old with being so bossy to others
Strangers On High Seas is the fourth book in the Captain No Beard series. The author has once again written a action packed adventure that is sure to draw the interest of anyone whether its a child or an adult. These are fun little books that could teach us all a thing or two about getting along with others.
This addition to the series welcomes more people on the crew of the Flying Dragon. We see Cabin Girl Cayla that gets real close to the edge of the ship to admire the dolphins.
It's not long before we are also introduced to Bamabas, the scurvy dog which just happens to be the captain of another ship called Shark Bait which is bearing down on them. And this ship doesn't look very friendly at all. But soon the newest crew member steps up to help her fellow crew members in a tale that is ure to leave you laughing.
I loved how this book ended. I was laughing so hard I was in tears.
This
magazine-style book mixes words of wisdom from Moore with pictures,
quizzes, surveys, scripture, and more to help girls ages 12-16 live
based on God’s truth about them as opposed to the world’s false
messages. Features in each chapter include: Q & A with Beth
(taken from adult book but written to appeal to a younger audience),
Sweet Notes (scriptures that pertain to the chapter’s subject), Your
Stats (a survey/poll of what girls think regarding the subject),
Interviews with real girls (and a few teen spokespeople), a quiz to help
girls gauge where they are, Bible characters with similar issues, and a
wrap-up section for discussion with a friend or in a group. Girls
will have fun reading about boys, fashion, the media, gifts and skills,
competing with other girls, and how they can live as secure girls
despite the distractions from the world.
My Thoughts:
I like taking the quizzes because it helped me learn more about myself. Even though some of them weren't too good. I took the quiz on How well (or not) you handle your interactions with guys and I got this answer: While it's not a good idea too fall all over guys, it's also not healthy to hide out from them. Work at being yourself no matter who is around. Not exactly what I expected.

At the end of each chapter, is a thing called Bible Girls. Which tells about a certain girl from the bible and her story. Each girls story corresponds with the subject in the chapter. Like Esther is the Bible Girl for the chapter 1: fashion and beauty, The Daughters of Zelophehad for chapter 2: media hype, and so on.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's both fun and full of information. So Long, Insecurity, Teen Edition has both beautiful pictures and helpful info.

What My Mom Thought:

Beth Moore is well known for her awesome ministry whether she is helping women or families. But this book where she reaches out to teens is probably in my opinion, her best yet. I joined my daughter on reviewing this book and I'm glad I did. The mean girls chapter really spoke to me because something like that happened to my daughter.

Recently, my daughter had small conflict with a girl that caused a small rift in our family. It was something that shocked us all about this young girl. While my husband and I believe that this young girl was doing this hurtful act towards our daughter because she felt threatened in some way, we were not going to allow ourselves to act on our hurt feelings or our daughter's. Instead we lifted her up in prayer and prayed that whatever this was that was binding this child up and causing her to act out be loosed in the name of Jesus.

Beth Moore gives our teen girls some really good advice. I think ever mother that has a teen daughter should read this book. It will give you some really insightful advice that could possibly help your daughter AND help you as a parent.
